Isaja is currently working on her dissertation which deals with generational shifts in perceptions of ethnic boundaries in North Macedonia. Her research lies at the intersection of knowledge, memory and silencing, as she is particularly looking at the memory and the knowledge (or lack thereof) or an ethnic conflict that has been subjected to both top-down and bottom-up silencing. More broadly, Isaja is interested in identity construction and maintenance in relation to national and ethnic identity.
