Research interests
Helen is a part-time Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering at the University of West England, and a part-time PhD student at the Bristol Robotics Laboratory studying Environmental Sustainability in the Robotics Industry. Her work focuses; contribution of the robotics industry to global levels of e-waste; assessing routes to reuse and repurpose robots; and reviewing barriers to implementing a circular economy in both industrial and consumer robotics industries.
Helen is a chartered Manufacturing Engineering specialist with 10 years industry experience prior to joining academia, with a background in the development and introduction of new and novel manufacturing techniques into industrial environments. She has a proven track record in leading multi-million pound projects developing Automation and Additive Manufacturing methods for the aerospace sector. Helen continues to maintain a Director role in a food industry SME.
Additionally, during her studies she is also working as a Graduate Teaching Associate and gained her Associate HEA qualification in Septemeber 2023. Helen is currently a GTA for Sustainable Computing, Sustainable Composite Materials, and Principles of Professional Practice.
Helen's PhD is affiliated with the EPSRC FARSCOPE Centre for Doctoral Training, joint between the University of Bristol and University of West England.
