Biography
I did a degree and PhD in chemistry here in Bristol, before doing a series of jobs in industry and academia. I then spent four years working in science communications, running the Environment Agency’s technical publishing programme, before moving to work at the Medical Research Council (MRC). At MRC I was very involved in overseeing the processes around awarding research funding grants to academics, as well as managing part of the scientific portfolio.
In 2014 I moved back to Bristol, where I worked in the Research Development team in RED, helping academics obtain research grant funding in health sciences. Having been heavily involved with an application to the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) for a Biomedical Research Centre, I moved to manage the Centre when it opened in 2017.
