Biography
After completing an MSci in Oceanography at the University of Southampton in 2008, I began my career as a Technician, supporting a wide range of laboratories across Chemistry, Geography and Earth Sciences. My first role was in Chemistry at the University of Southampton, and I am currently a Technical Specialist at the University of Bristol.
In 2020 I became a Registered Scientist and member of the Science Council after successfully applying for professional registration through the IST, in recognition of my technical achievements and competencies.
In my current role as a Technical Specialist (Geological Services) at the University of Bristol, I support a range of laboratories in the School of Earth Sciences, located in the Inner Court Laboratories and Wills Memorial Building. I am responsible for lab management, safety, inductions and training in the Polishing, Rock Crushing, Optical Microscopy, Mineral Separation, Volcanology (grain fluid dynamics and analytical) and Petrology Laboratories.
