Biography
I completed an MSci in Oceanography at the University of Southampton between 2004-2008 and since then I have been progressing my career as a technician. I have supported a wide range of laboratories across Chemistry, Geography and Earth Sciences during my career, starting at the University of Southampton, and I am currently a Technical Specialist at the University of Bristol.
In 2020 I became a Registered Scientist and member of the Science Council after successfully applying for professional registration through the IST, in recognition of my technical achievements and competencies.
In my current role as Geological Services Technician, I support a range of laboratories in the School of Earth Sciences, located in the Inner Court Laboratories and Wills Memorial Building. I am responsible for lab management, safety, induction and training in the Polishing, Rock Crushing, Optical Microscopy, Mineral Separation, Volcanology (grain fluid dynamics and analytical) and Petrology Laboratories.
