Biography
I completed my MSci in Oceanography with French at the University of Southampton in 2015, before working as a lab assistant in the palaeoclimate lab for nine months after graduating. Following this I spent two years working as a palaeoclimate research technician at the Centre Européen de Recherche et d’Enseignement de Géosciences de l’Environnement, (CEREGE) France, before starting my PhD at the Open University in 2018. During my PhD (“Plio-Pleistocene Monsoon Driven Productivity and Stratification Reconstructions”) I used a multi-proxy approach on sediments from cores taken at a site in the Bay of Bengal on IODP expedition 353. I generated foraminifera based δ18O, δ13C, and trace element records to reconstruct what the Indian Summer Monsoon was doing ~2-3 million years ago, gaining as much practical lab experience as I could in the process.
In 2023 I joined the University of Bristol as a Specialist Technician on the PETRARCH project, helping generate reconstructions of CO2 and ocean pH during the Cretaceous using boron isotopes from foraminifera and radiolarians, as well as helping out on fieldwork and training new students and visitors to the lab. As of January 2025 I am the Clean Lab Manager for the Bristol Isotope group, looking after the Wills Memorial Building basement, and Inner Court Level 2 clean labs, as well as the Inner Court Level 3 Palaeobiology and Geochemistry labs.
