Biography
I've worked in higher education administration for over 20 years. 15 of those were spent at the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) in various roles, including that of regional advisor for universities in the North of England and as a policy officer on quality assurance and postgraduate funding. I then moved to the University of Bristol where I supported a research team in the Physics department for 4 years, then took up the post of REF Impact Co-ordinator, supporting academics in communicating their research impact by writing REF Impact Case Studies. I have been in my current role in the Science Partnership Office (SPO) since November 2019, promoting our scientists' work to external audiences, supporting the creation of new partnerships and facilitating communication and sharing of good practice across the Faculty.
I enjoy writing about science and nature. My blog, 'Bad Botanist' (https://badbotanist.wordpress.com/) is devoted to communicating observations and fascinating facts about wildflowers, and I contribute articles to Avon Wildlife Trust's blog and magazine, as well as writing content for university web pages.
