Biography
After doing a PhD at Imperial Colleage London in computational nanotechnology, Ella Gale moved to the Univeristy of the West of England and the Bristol Robotics Laboratory to make novel computer components (memristors). This post-doc included materials science research, and using the memristors to make circuits led to an interested in artificial intelligence and bioinspired systems. After this postdoc she moved the Khalifa University of Science, Technology and Research (UAE) to work on modelling spintronic devices and materials. She then moved to Centre for Sustainable Chemical Technology CDT to work with chemical engineers on biodegradable plastics. To gain a deeper understanding of neural networks, she then did a post-doc in the School of Psychology at the University of Bristol before moving to the Technology Enhanced Chemical Synthesis CDT in the School of Chemistry and the University of Bristol. There she taught machine learning and data science and researched novel ways to input molecular structure into ML algorithms. Currently she is the Innovation in Education Lecturer in the School of Chemistry where she develops and delivers digital chemistry teaching materials.
Teaching
Ella Gale currently teaches statstics, python programming, data science, design off experiments and digital chemistry. She is engaged in writing and developing educational software to teach chemistry, including in virtual reality. She runs the undergraduate V.R. laboratory.
