I am interested in the punishment and social exclusion of children, young people and families, and in the role policy and legal discourses play in processes of marginalisation. I use qualitative, creative and visual methods.

Teaching
My teaching spans Childhood Studies, Criminology and Social Policy. I currently teach the Criminology unit Punishment in Society and the Childhood Studies unit Youth Justice. I have also convened the Social Policy unit Changing Families and State and taught Children, Young People and the Law.
I contribute specialist lectures on the Social Work MSc programme, and to the Education, Inclusion and Diversity unit.
