Research interests
Research Interests
My research interests focus on two major areas: the history of Rome in the Republican and Augustan periods, and classical (particularly Roman) historiography. The two are intimately linked: in my book on Sallust I use the historiographical text as a source for intellectual history more broadly, attempting to establish an intellectual context within which to read the historian's work.
My other interests include classical rhetoric, Cicero, and cultural memory; my next project will be on the early (fragmentary) historians of the Roman Republican period, and the ways in which they deal with the emergent phenomenon of imperial power.
I completed my PhD at UCL in 2015, and joined the University of Bristol immediately thereafter.

My office is 1.34b, 11 Woodland Road.
My consultation hours for Autumn 2022 are TBD.
