Biography
Charles teaches commercial law, international arbitration, legal and political philosophy, and constitutional law. He also supervises research projects and dissertations.
Charles is called to the Bar of England and Wales and a member of the Inner Temple. He previously worked in the international arbitration practice at WilmerHale, gained practicing insights in leading barristers' chambers, and marshalled the Presidents of the Commercial Court and Chancery Division of the High Court of England and Wales.
At NYU Law, Charles' research concerned ‘Respectful Coercion’ and the nature of law, supervised by Prof Jeremy Waldron. Charles obtained various academic awards and prizes, including for ranking top of his year in international law. He serves as a judge in the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition.
Charles is committed to equality, diversity, and inclusion. He advises the digital health company, SXT Health CIC that pioneers access to sexual and reproductive healthcare. He has served in the Fast-Track Cities London Leadership Group of UNAIDS. Charles is committed to pro bono work with particular experience representing victims of revenge porn.
As a conservatoire-trained musician, Charles performs with a variety of orchestras and ensembles.
