Biography
I currently work with the Materials Science team as Research Engineer at the National Composites Centre (NCC).
In a previous role I worked as a PDRA for Rolls-Royce under the supervision of Prof I Hamerton. This project concerned the development of new matrix resins for high performance composites.
Prior to this role I studied for a PhD in Advanced Composites with a thesis titled 'CANs: from dynamic chemistry to sustainable composites' under the supervision of Prof I Bond (Bristol Composites Institute), Prof P Pringle (School of Chemistry, UoB), Prof D Wass (Cardiff Catalysis Institute) and Dr T Coope (inductosense). This thesis describes the application of Diels-Alder epoxies as functional composite matrices and the self-healing/recycling of these composite materials. In addition, the dynamic chemistry of Se-Se and P-P bonds are explored and compared to the well-established field of dynamic S-S chemistry.
I also completed my undegraduate degree in Bristol: MSci Chemistry with industrial experience with a Master's project concerning the synthesis of novel borylphosphines and a placement year working at Schlumberger Gould Research centre.
