Research interests
I am a university lecturer at UIN Imam Bonjol Padang, Indonesia. My study often explores economic history and social dynamics in agriculture sector of Indonesia. In 2018, I investigated the historical development of coconut plantations in the major production cluster of copra (dried kernel coconut) in Indonesia.
I am currently working on deforestation, forest and plantation history of post-colonial Indonesia as my PhD project at the University of Bristol. This study aims to uncover the underlying causes of deforestation and biodiversity loss in Indonesia, as well as to examine how the perceptions and cultural attachments of communities living in forest frontiers have evolved over time.
