Grading Information

Gradings happen at the end of each term and if you train hard enough, you can attain a Black Belt in three years.

A grading will cost about £15 for any coloured belt (£70 for Black Belt) and whilst they are optional, the vast majority of people take them. They’re a great chance to record your improvements and look good on any CV.

Format of gradings

  1. Tae-bo - a general warm up lead by a senior belt.
  2. Techniques - a short period when you will be expected to demonstrate all the leg and arm techniques you’ve learnt.
  3. Patterns - you will perform a set of moves you have memorised.
  4. Sparring (One step) - one on one defense techniques, working with a partner you will take turns attacking and defending.
  5. Sparring (Free) - non-contact sparring with someone of your own belt.

Gradings normally grant an advance of one grade, if you meet the standard required of course. Exceptional students may progress at a faster rate.
