Club Information & FAQs
Do I need any equipment for training?
It's not necessary to bring any special equipment with you as a beginner.
- Wear loose fitting clothes that you are comfortable exercising in. All training is done barefoot so shoes don't matter.
- Bring a drink to keep you hydrated throughout the session. If we are training in the Students' Union there is a water cooler on the 3rd floor.
If you want to take a grading later on in the term to advance to the next belt, you will need to purchase a Taekwondo suit from the club. It is also necessary to get a licence if you wish to train regularly with the club. This provides insurance while you are training, and again, can be purchased inexpensively through the club.
When we are sparring we wear body armour, this is provided by the club for both training and competitions. It is not necessary to bring your own unless you want to. However, you may wish to bring a gum-guard for sparring so you can get used to wearing it while fighting.

Body armour for sparring consists of:
- Head guard
- Gum guard
- Body protector
- Arm guards
- Leg guards
- Groin guard
- Gloves (optional)
- Foot guards (optional)
