More about this group

The Veterinary Public Health group is involved in a broad range of applied research, spanning food safety and security, control and management of economically important (farm) animal disease and zoonoses, as well as the national and international arena.

Development of knowledge on the behaviour of disease in populations and identification of risk factors is essential in the design of farm based, national or international control and management efforts. The group provides expertise on food safety issues through the entire food chain, including food safety management and meat inspection.

The group provides expertise in both policy and technical fields, as for successful policy implementation, technical design of disease control and management programmes must be appropriate. Strong relationships have been established with research groups within the UK and Europe, as well as with universities in developing countries.
