Research summary

Broadly, my professional and research interests are in the interdisciplinary, cross-sectoral issues of environmental sustainability and, more specifically, community action, energy and climate change, and sustainable urban environments.

Over the past few years my research has focussed on grassroots and collaborative activity in response to issues of environmental sustainability, particularly at the city scale.

My focus is (urban) sustainability, looking at community and grassroots action, energy and climate change and sustainable, healthy environments - exploring the interdisciplinary, cross-sectoral interface in translating theory into practical applications for future resilience.

At the University of Bristol, my research has centred on grassroots responses to issues of climate change and sustainability in urban environments. I have worked with social enterprises, community groups and intermediary organisations, using participatory methods and exploring how they (dis-) connect with policy and regulation and interact with city governance.
