Ms Ann Singleton


Ann has published and spoken widely in the areas of asylum and international migration policy and statistics in the UK, the European Union, ECOWAS and at a global level. 

Her work focuses on the use of international migration data in the development of policy. She has advised the European Commission, the European Parliament, the Council of Ministers and EU Presidencies, several governments outside the EU. She has collaborated with many NGOs and international organisations including the UN agencies, IOM, UNDESA, UNHCR, UNESCWA and UNECE. Ann is also Co-Chair of Statewatch

Between 2002 and 2004 Ann was responsible for policy on statistics in the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Justice and Home Affairs. In 2008, she was the migration expert on the Steering Panel for the Science Review of the Home Office and the Ministry of Justice. This report makes 24 key recommendations on improving the use and delivery of science in policy-making in all activities of the Home Office and Ministry of Justice.
