Research summary

My research focuses on social and geographical differences in health and education; the use of genetic data in understanding of health and social outcomes; and the application of realistically complex modelling to longitudinal data. My work combines longitudinal social data with genome-wide data and makes use of advanced statistical techniques to answer social science research questions in novel ways. I work principally with data from longitudinal birth cohorts and have experience in a range of advanced quantitative methods for analysing complex data structures.

My background is in quantitative social science, having completed an ESRC funded PhD in Advanced Quantitative Methods ...

I completed my PhD in Advanced Quantitiatve Methods in Social Science at the University of Bristol in 2017, jointly at the Centre for Multilevel Modelling and the School of Geographical Sciences. My PhD focussed on the role of unobserved confouding in social science and epidemiological research and how realistically complex modelling applied to longitudinal data can be used to minimise this. Following my PhD I moved to the MRC Integrative Epidemiology Unit where I have worked broadly on the use of genetic data for improving understanding of complex social outcomes.
