I am an epidemiologist whose research interests include i.) health services delivery, ii.) cancer survival and survival inequalities, iii.) chronic disease epidemiology, and iv.) suicide and self-harm.

I completed my PhD at the University of Heidelberg, Germany, while based at the German Cancer Reseach Center (DKFZ). My thesis focused on comparisons of cancer survival between the Philippines, and Filipino-Americans and Caucasians from the United States.

I currently hold a post-doctoral fellowship from Cancer Research UK, looking at the effect of waiting times on cancer survival and cancer survival inequalities.

My past and present projects include i.) the effect of diabetes and diabetes treatments on breast cancer risk, ii.) the association of vitamin D and calcium supplementation with cancer risk, iii.) the epidemiology of suicide and self-harm in the Philippines, and iv.) early diagnosis of cancer in childhood, teeanagers and young adults.
