Dr Rachel Denholm

I am an epidemiologist at the Centre for Academic Primary Care at the Bristol Medical School, with expertise in using electronic healthcare records.  I completed my PhD at UCL, investigating the impact of child maltreatment on physical development using the 1953 British birth cohort. After, I was a post-doctoral fellow at the International Agency for Research on Cancer in Lyon, France, working on projects international aetiological projects focusing on lung cancer.  Before coming to the University of Bristol, I worked for LSHTM, investigating early life factors that influence breast-tissue composition using the Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children (ALSPAC) cohort.

My role at CAPC is focused on the use of routine electronic health records for the purposes of aetiological and health-service research.  In particular, I am interested in the use of medication in vulnerable groups, and in particular patients with multimorbidities.
