Summary

I am a medical sociologist interested in the organisation of healthcare and combined research methods. My doctoral thesis (Heriot-Watt 2014), was a mixed methods analysis of environmental variations in physical activity attainment, funded by an ESRC CASE studentship with NHS Lothian.

Previously, at the Univeristy of Newcastle, I conducted qualitative research as part of a randomised controlled trial (RCT) funded by NIHR (https://w3.abdn.ac.uk/hsru/Open/). I also worked on two qualitative investigations exploring different aspects of caring for people with arthritis.

In 2015, I joined the QuinteT team lead by Professor Jenny Donovan to working on By-Band-Sleeve, a surgical RCT comparing three types of weight-loss surgery (www.by-band.bristol.ac.uk/theteam.aspx).

Additionally I am a committee member of the British Sociological Association, Medical Sociology Group.
