Biography

Paul Mitchell was appointed Research Fellow in Health Economics in February 2018. Previously he held a post-doctoral fellowship jointly funded by NIHR CLAHRC West and the UK Renal Registry. He is currently working on the capability across the life course project at Health Economics at Bristol (HEB).

Paul’s research interests are on the measurement and valuation of intangibles. His PhD research drew heavily from economic theory, in particular Amartya Sen’s capability approach, to justify a move away from using patient reported outcomes that narrowly focus on health in economic evaluations, towards measures that capture a person’s ability to do and ...
