Research summary

My background is in mathematics and statistics and my main research interests are in using mathematical and statistical modelling to provide solutions to real-life applied problems. As an early-career researcher I have already been able to realize this ambition in academic fields as diverse as fluid mechanics, brain imaging, geophysics, atmospheric chemistry and medical statistics.

I am a member of the Integrative Epidemiology Unit (IEU), working with Professor Deborah Lawlor on projects using metabolomics data in epidemiological studies to explore their causal role and/or ability to accurately predict risk in reproductive, perinatal or cardiometabolic health.

Biography

Qualifications

BSc Mathematics & Its Applications - Cardiff University, 2007.

PhD - Cardiff University, 2011.
Thesis title: Wavelet regularization and the continuous relaxation spectrum.

This research was concerned with a severely ill-posed inverse problem in the field of fluid mechanics. I developed a new mathematical model for the relaxation spectrum of a viscoelastic material and a novel regularization method for dealing with this particular problem and other similar inverse problems.

Positions Held

December 2018 - present: Research Associate in Metabolomics Epidemiology, Population Health Sciences, Bristol Medical School, University of Bristol.

I am a member of the Integrative Epidemiology Unit (IEU ...
