Summary

Marta joined the Smart Internet Lab in 2018 as a Project Officer. She ensures the successful delivery of research projects by supporting academic staff and key stakeholders in the management of administrative, contractual and financial matters.

Her areas include Research Group Management, for the High Performance Networks (HPN) Group, one of the Smart Internet Lab aligned research groups, and supports the activities of 45 Academic Staff, students and researchers, a portfolio of 17 live projects, and a variety of industrial relationships.

She is also the project manager for the EPSRC funded £12M TOUCAN (Towards Ultimate Convergence of All Networks) programme, led by the University of Bristol in collaboration with the Universities of Heriot-Watt, Edinburgh and Lancaster, BT, NEC, Samsung, JANET, Plextec and Bristol City Council.

As a University of Bristol alumna, Marta holds a MSc in Health Care Law and Ethics. She has been a University staff member since 2004, working primarily within clinical trials environment in Population Health Sciences at Bristol Medical School.

Her previous roles included Fieldwork Nutritionist for the ProtecT (Prostate Testing for Cancer and Treatment) Trial until 2010, and then Research Administrator for both the CLasP (Conservative management, Laser therapy, transurethral resection of the Prostate) and CAP (Cluster Randomised Trial of PSA testing for Prostate Cancer) Trials.

In 2014, Marta became a Data Management Research Associate for ProtecT and CAP trials, overseeing the development and use of data systems and using mixed research methods. Marta was involved in the management and analysis of the trials' complex research data and co-authoring of high impact scientific papers. Marta is also a member of the PRINTEGER  (Promoting Integrity as an Integral Dimension of Excellence in Research) group who published guidance on research integrity for research performing organisations.
