Research summary

Katrina is a senior qualitative methodologist.  She has extensive knowledge and experience of using in-depth interviews, focus groups and observations. Katrina has particular expertise in designing and overseeing qualitative studies nested within large randomised controlled trials, and developing and supervising the qualitative elements of large programme grants. Most of her research has been in the areas of primary care mental health.

Katrina joined the Centre of Academic Primary Health Care in September 2004.  Prior to doing so she worked at the MRC Social and Public Health Sciences Unit, Glasgow, and at the University of Glasgow on mixed method studies that focused on the health and health behaviours of children and adolescents.

Katrina has a background in health sciences, health promotion and health education, and a PhD from a Department of Applied Social Science. Her PhD thesis focused on young women's views and experiences of teenage pregnancy and motherhood.
