Katie joined the University of Bristol in October 2018. She is working on trial based economic evaluations in the areas of loneliness and breast cancer and an evaluation of preference-based measures in cataract surgery. She is also a Research Adviser for the Research Design Service.    

Katie has a BSc in Psychology (University of Kent), MSc in Research Methods in Psychology (University of Reading) and an MSc in Health Economics and Health Policy (University of Birmingham). She is currently finishing her PhD in Health Economics at the University of Birmingham.

Following her Psychology training, Katie worked for a consultancy undertaking patient reported outcomes research. This involved the psychometric validation of PROMs and the development of preference-based utility algorithms from disease-specific measures. Having gained an interest in Health Economics, Katie completed an NIHR Research Methods Fellowship in Birmingham which involved completing an MSc in Health Economics and Health Policy. The fellowship focused on applying health economics to medical testing and diagnosis. Upon completion of the fellowship, Katie remained at Birmingham, registering for a PhD and working on projects exploring the use of health economics in public health.
