I hold the posts of Senior Research Fellow in Ethnography / Qualitative Social Sience for National Institute for Health Research Collaborations for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care West (NIHR CLAHRC West) and Qualitative Research Fellow for Bristol Randomised Controlled Trials Collaboration (BRTC).

I have an interest in the integrating of qualitative and quantitative methods, through the use of interlocking qualitative methods and clinical interventions. My major research contribution has been designing and applying qualitative methods in randomised controlled trials (RCTs) and applied health contexts. Biography

I have a background in critical social psychology. My doctoral work examined the contradictions and tensions in the construction and negotiation of male identities.

Before moving into applied health research, I worked on a large birth cohort study as Head of the Psychology Team for The Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children (ALSPAC) where i was responsible for co-ordinated the psychology research portfolio.
