Dr Jenny Ingram


Jenny has worked in the Institute of Child Health in Bristol (previous home of Child and Adolescent Health) since 1987. She is a senior researcher experienced in using quantitative and qualitative research methods. Her interests are in maternal and child health, infant feeding, particularly breastfeeding, injury prevention in pre-school children and health promotion. She has carried out studies investigating the hormonal predictors of breast milk output; explored breastfeeding attitudes with grandmothers, mothers and fathers in ethnic minority groups and in areas of deprivation; evaluated breastfeeding peer support; produced and evaluated an evidence-based inter-professional breastfeeding learning package for primary care teams; run a feasibility RCT on tongue-tie and breastfeeding, and studied changes in maternal confidence for those with babies in NICU. She also works as a senior research consultant with the NIHR Research Design Service-South West, leading a team of methodologists advising and supporting health professionals in developing grant applications for NIHR funding streams.
