Research summary

My research is focused on how the endothelin system is disrupted in the brain in Alzheimer’s disease. There are differences in the levels of ECE-2 and ECE-1, the activity of ECE-1 and the level of ET-1 in the brain in Alzheimer’s disease compared to controls, and I am interested in why this is, and what effect this may have in patients. There appears to be a link between disruption of the endothelin system and the reduction of cerebral blood flow in Alzheimer’s disease, and part of my research is to investigate the mechanism of this. Biography

Over the past 6 years at the University of Bristol I have undertaken and passed a PhD and gone on to gain 4 years of post-doctoral experience. I have published 12 peer-reviewed articles (5 as first author) in well-regarded scientific journals, the majority having an impact factor of ~5, and I have presented a total of 23 platform or poster presentations on aspects of this work at both national and international conferences.
