Summary

Biography

My PhD research investigates preschool children’s physical activity and sedentary behaviours with a particular interest in parents’ role in these behaviours. I am supervised by Dr Katrina Turner and Prof Russ Jago and funded by the Avon Primary Care Research Collaborative (APCRC).

Prior to my PhD, I was Project Co-ordinator for the TeamPlay project (Centre for Exercise, Nutrition and Health Sciences), which developed and ran a parenting programme to help parents to encourage their 6-8 year old children to be more active. I have worked at the University of Bristol since 2007 on various research projects including AVONet (jointly with the University of Bath), ALSPACProject TREADProject OPAL, and analysis of Bristol PCTs Slimming World referral scheme. I have first class BSc (hons) in Nutrition and Health (2005) from Roehampton University and an MSc in Nutrition, Physical Activity and Public Health (2008) from the University of Bristol.
