Dr Emma Anderson

Biography

My interests are in healthcare interventions, addiction and mental health, health psychology and behaviour change. I enjoy both clinical and research work, having trained in motivational interviewing, personal coaching, CBT and as an NHS smoking cessation practitioner. I completed a Professional Doctorate in Health Psychology in December 2016, alongside my research management role.

I gained a (first class) BSc in Social Psychology in 2003 and Msc in Health Psychology in 2005 - both at the University of Sussex. I went on to work as Mental Health Worker supporting drug and alcohol patients on an addictions treatment ward in Bristol for over two years before joining the Academic Unit of Psychiatry at the University of Bristol as research staff in 2007.

I have worked in many NHS-based studies and trials over the years, including mental health and addictions interventions and other public health research in both primary and secondary care settings.
