Research summary

My research interests include inequality and inequity as they relate to health, ontology and epistemology in public health, research ethics & methodology, and equitable research production.  I am an applied social science researcher working on a range of studies as part of the ethnography team at the National Institute for Health Research Collaboration for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care in the West (NIHR CLAHRC West).  As part of Bristol Medical School, I have also worked on NIHR funded studies on use of evidence in healthcare commissioning, and primary care factors in the use of unplanned secondary care ...

Biography

My background includes five years as an NHS clinical scientist (medical physics & clinical engineering), followed by ten years in international development (including project managing medical humanitarian intervention in DR Congo and Ethiopia, and an Economic & Social Research Council funded PhD studentship on prevention of noncommunicable disease in South Africa).  I joined Bristol Medical School in 2011, and NIHR CLAHRC West in 2014.
