Summary

I have a particular interest in epidemiological research on alcohol-related harm, prenatal exposures and methods to improve causal inference.

Currently, my research includes quantitative evaluation of the effect of public health engagement in alcohol licensing on alcohol-related health and crime outcomes (EXILENS); and epidemiological studies that investigate prenatal alcohol use and fetal alcohol spectrum disorders.

Previously, I have conducted systematic reviews and meta-analysis for the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidelines including Learning Disabilities and Challenging Behaviour and Antenatal and Postnatal Mental Health. I also have an interest in research with forensic populations, having worked for the National Offender Management Service (NOMS).

I have a BSc in Applied Psychology from Cardiff University (2008), a MSc in Forensic Psychology from Cardiff Metropolitan University (2011) and completed my PhD in the epidemiology of prenatal alcohol use and fetal alcohol spectrum disorders at Cardiff University in 2018. In 2017 I joined the Population Health Sciences Institute back in my home town of Bristol.
