Professor Emeritus Peter Skrine (1989-2003) lectured on German literaturefrom the Reformation and Baroque period to the early 20th century, also offering specialist courses on the Swiss contribution to German literatureand on German popular literature. He instituted a successful subsidiary course in Dutch, which lapsed after his retirement. During his tenure he found time to write (with Eda Sagarra) Blackwell’s Companion to German Literature (1997) as well as numerous articles and reviews.
