I am an academic educator with a passion for and expertise in digital education. After teaching Italian at the School of Modern Languages for many years, in 2011 my role was extended to encourage and support the use of digital teaching and learning methods across the School.

Thanks to my collaboration with academics, professional services staff and learning technicians, the School has transitioned from a face-to-face to a blended teaching approach where classroom teaching is complemented by digital learning opportunities. As a result of my contribution to the School’s transition to blended learning, modern language students engage with a range of learning methods aimed at empowering them to become confident and autonomous learners, fluent in the use of different technologies, and to develop multiple capabilities.

In 2017 I was appointed Senior Teaching Fellow in Digital Education with technology enhanced learning responsibility for the Faculty of Arts. As such, in addition to working with the School of Modern Languages I am now collaborating with the Schools of Arts and Humanities and the Centres for Innovation and English Language.

I have a strong interest in open education and have led the development of the ‘Cultural Studies and Modern Languages’ MOOC - which won the 2015 Bristol Education Award - as well as contributed to the ‘Global Citizenship’ open online course, both hosted on the FutureLearn platform. I chair the Multimedia Learning Centre Committee and work closely with students to guarantee that the Centre’s resources and spaces meet their evolving learning ambitions and needs. I have been involved in several University-wide projects, such as the acquisition and implementation of technologies for lecture capture and online reading lists. I also sat on the University Learning Spaces Task Group and advised on technology for learning environments.

I regularly discuss my work at conferences.

In 2013 I was awarded the University of Bristol Teaching Fellowship. And, in 2016, I became a Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy.
