Summary

In 2015, I joined the University of Bristol's Department of Film and Television to begin AHRC-funded doctoral research under the supervision of Professor Sarah Street (Bristol) and Dr. Helen Hanson (Exeter). My PhD thesis examines large format film production, style and commerce in the post-war era (predominately British and American cinema), using the VistaVision format as a case study.

I earned my BA in English and MA in Film and Literature at the Univeristy of York (2011-2015). Also at York, I researched various trends in the contemporary European film industry on a casual basis for Professor Andrew Higson, in conjunction with the MeCETES project. I am a member of the South, West and Wales Doctoral Training Partnership and the British Association of Film, Television and Screen Studies.

My research interests:

  • The history of film industries and production technologies
  • Widescreen aesthetics and film style
  • Post-war British and American film culture
  • Film and literature
