Mr Peter Metelerkamp

I grew up in South Africa, where I studied Philosophy and English. I then studied Film Production in London, and later (after returning to South Africa and as my interests in Education developed) Adult Education. After settling in Bristol, I studied photography, which I also practised for many years, undertaking several major projects. I was Programme Director of the MA in Film and TV Production for 28 years, and alongside personal creative work, have simultaneously pursued enduring interests in the culture and politics of  Southern Africa. I am also deeply committed to education as a force for enlightenment, and I continue to explore progressive pedagogies and issues and policies in Higher Education. My current primary research interests are in the conditions and expreience of settler communities in post-colonial Southern Africa.
