My research focuses on the application of evolutionary ecology to emerging public health and social issues in the developing world. This combines qualitative anthropological and quantitative demographic methodologies with theoretical frameworks of evolutionary biology. Financially supported by the ESRC, the British Academy and the Leverhulme Trust, recent fieldwork-based research has explored the causes and consequences of population change in rural Africa.
Following degrees in Anthropology at Durham and Cambridge, PhD and Postdoctoral Fellowship at UCL, I joined the University of Bristol in 2005.
