Biography

I graduated from University College Dublin in 2000 with a BA (hons) in Archaeology and Italian. Following a stint in commercial archaeology, I undertook a Masters in Landscape Archaeology at the University of Sheffield, graduating in 2003. I returned to UCD in 2004, completing my PhD in 2007 with a thesis examining Neolithic settlement in Ireland. From 2007-2009, I oversaw the drafting of the Bend of the Boyne World Heritage Site Research Framework, working with the Heritage Council (Ireland). Following this project, I returned to UCD once more for a one-year IRCHSS fellowship to prepare my doctoral thesis for publication. In 2011, I was back in the UK, at the University of Bristol as a Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellow, working in the Organic Geochemistry Unit. In 2013, I joined the ERC-funded Times of Their Lives Bayesian modelling project at Cardiff University and in September 2014, returned to Bristol to work on another ERC-funded project – NeoMilk.

In August 2016, I took up the permanent post of Assistant Professor in Archaeology at the School of Archaeology, University College Dublin. I remain involved with the NeoMilk project in Bristol as an Honorary Research Fellow.
