Dr Florian Scheding

I hold a BA in musicology and philosophy from the University of Hamburg, Germany, and also studied musicology in Salamanca, Spain. Equipped with a scholarship by the German Academic Exchange Programme (DAAD), I obtained my MMus at Royal Holloway, University of London in 2003. With funding from the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) and a Thomas Holloway studentship, I stayed at Royal Holloway for my PhD, which was supervised by Erik Levi and awarded in 2008. In 2007 I was a post-doctoral fellow at Humboldt University, Berlin, with support from the European Newtork of Musicological Research. Before joining the University of Bristol in 2014, I was Lecturer and, before that, Research Fellow at the University of Southampton, having previously taught at the Universities of Cambridge and Royal Holloway. In 2017, I was elected to serve on the AHRC Peer Review College.
