Professor Emma Hornby

Emma welcomes new research students with interests in medieval music (especially chant) and in music theology.

Currently supervised MPhil/MLitt/PhD topics include:

  • representations of Christ the musical logos in medieval art (co-supervised with Carolyn Muessig)
  • The Coventry Pontifical
  • Beneventan chant
  • theology and Passion music (co-supervised with Beth Williamson)
  • 19th-century Anglican missionaries and hymnody in the colonial South African Cape (co-supervised with Robert Bickers)
