Biography
Andrew supports knowledge exchange and knowledge transfer opportunities from all funding agencies across all University Faculties. Recent examples include our local REACT Hub funded by AHRC, ESRC's Knowledge Exchange Opportunities, KTPs in Policy Studies, Aerospace and Chemistry, the EPSRC Impact Acceleration Account and similar pilot schemes from BBSRC & NERC. Andrew can help broker relationships with partners in industry, the public sector and charities, refine project ideas, advise on suitable funding sources, and assist with bid writing.
He joined the University in 2009 from the Institute of Physics Publishing (IOP) where he was Group Publisher for physics and environmental research journals, with responsibility for peer review and ethics, developing science policy, growing citations, and marketing journals to authors and referees. He worked with international partners including SISSA Trieste, the London Mathematical Society, Royal Swedish Academy, Deutsche Physikalische Gesellschaft and American Astronomical Society. Andrew studied Physics at the University of Durham and holds a PhD in black holes and topological defects from the University of Newcastle.
