Summary

Using novel technologies in guided wave optics we are developing systems for the generation, manipulation and detection of photons. These photons are used as the quantum information carrying 'qubit' in a the field of quantum information processing. Another way of looking at this is to say we're making some very clever little circuits that play with the fundamental waves/particles of light: photons. Doing this enables us to control every physical property of these photons. And more than that, we actually control their interaction in an attempt to use the natural laws of this strange world (quantum mechanical laws) to solve problems in fields such as communications, computing and information processing.
