Summary

Biography

I am currently Lecturer in Intellectual Property Law. My research lies within the broad area of UK copyright and trade mark law.

I was a senior lecturer at the University of South Wales, where I taught intellectual property law to both undergraduate and postgraduate students. I also taught copyright law and IT law on an LL.M programme in Intellectual Property Law, which was delivered exclusively to patent and trademark examiners at the UK Intellectual Property Office. I was also previously a practising lawyer in Singapore, specialising in IP litigation.

I have contributed to professional loose-leaf publications: Sweet & Maxwell’s European Law Reporter and Kluwer’s Encyclopaedia of Intellectual Property and have had several articles accepted in international peer-reviewed journals such as the Oxford Journal of Legal Studies, European Intellectual Property Review, and Computer Law and Security Review as well as a journal in literary and linguistic studies, the Forum for Modern Language Studies.

My article, "A Brave New World for IP rights"‚Äč was published in the Journal of Law Information and Science, and was awarded the journal's Best Article Prize in 2008. In September 2015, my essay on copyright law and the destruction of art was awarded the John McLaren Emmerson QC Essay prize by the Intellectual Property Society of Australia and New Zealand. I have also been awarded a Modern Law Review Scholarship in support of my PhD research, which specifically examined the shortcomings of moral rights doctrine, and the impact of such shortcomings on cultural heritage within the UK.
