Miss Rachel Pougnet

Biography

Rachel is a PhD student at the University of Bristol and began her doctoral research in 2015. Her research is funded by the ESCR (+3) and the British Council (Entente Cordiale scholarship). She recently published a chapter in an edited collection on the future of Human rights in the UK (Cambridge scholars publishing). http://www.cambridgescholars.com/the-future-of-human-rights-in-the-uk and commented on ECHR cases for the European Journal of Human rights.

She holds a Degree in Law (LLB) from the University of Bordeaux, a Master of Law (LLM) in General International Law from the University of the Sorbonne (University of Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne, Master 1), and an MRes in “International Public Law and International Organisations” also from the University of the Sorbonne (Master 2).

Away from her university studies she has volunteered for the Human Rights League of Paris and has worked for the French Court of Asylum seekers as an intern. This led her to research on the question of child soldiers and refugee law for her MRes dissertation at the University of the Sorbonne. She is now working with the Human rights implementation center of the University of Bristol and teaches Constitutional rights.
