Dr Margherita Pieraccini

Margherita joined the Law School in 2011. She was formerly a lecturer at the University of Exeter, Cornwall campus. 

Her research is interdisciplinary and focuses on nature conservation law, marine policy, commons, legal pluralism and social-ecological resilience.

From 2012 to 2015 she held an ESRC Future Research Leaders grant to carry out a socio-legal study on marine protected areas in the UK (http://www.ecologiesandidentities.com/)  

In 2015 she was awarded an ESRC Impact Acceleration Account to carry out work in MPAs in Italy.

Her PhD was part of the AHRC-funded Contested Common Land project (2007-2010).

PhD Supervision:

Margherita has and is supervising PhD students working on the regulation of new technologies, climate change and human rights, renewable energy policy, resilience of water services. She welcomes applications in environmental law, esp. in nature conservation law and marine policy.
