Manoj Dias-Abey joined the University of Bristol School of Law in 2018. He was previously a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Centre for Law in the Contemporary Workplace at Queen’s University (Canada). Manoj earned his Ph.D. in Law from Queen’s University in 2016. He also holds LL.M. (Research), LL.B., and B.A. (English) degrees from the University of New South Wales in Australia. Prior to entering academia, Manoj worked in various legal roles in government, private practice, and the publishing industry.

Manoj is a socio-legal researcher who is pursuing three lines of research at present. First, he is engaged in research that examines how labour organisations and movements that represent migrant workers utilise the law to further their objectives. Second, he is researching the law and political economy of temporary labour migration programmes. And third, he is studying how social movements devise innovative forms of regulation to govern global value chains. He has published his research in various leading law journals and reviews, including the International Journal of Labour Law and Industrial Relations, Australian Journal of Labour Law, and Harvard Civil Rights-Civil Liberties Law Review. Manoj's principal areas of teaching are employment law and company law.

Manoj has been a Visiting Scholar at the Centre for the Study of Law & Society at UC (Berkeley) and is an alumnus of the King’s College Transnational Law Summer Institute. He is currently a co-chair of the Labor CRN in the US Law & Society Association.

At the University of Bristol, he's involved in the Centre for Law at Work and Migration and Mobilities Bristol (MMB), where he convenes the research challenge on Trade, Capital, Labour.
