Summary

My research interests focus on the ethics, law and regulation of informed consent to medical treatment.

Biography

My PhD is titled 'Judging Informed Consent' and focuses on the interaction between law, ethics and regulation of informed consent to medical treatment. It looks at ethical, legal and regulatory conceptions of autonomy and standards of informed consent, and the application of those within legal judgments and fitness to practice decisions. Prior to undertaking my PhD, I spent several years working as a clinical negligence lawyer acting on behalf of patients.

Alongside my PhD, I am an Associate Teacher in Medical Law and the co-chair of the Institute of Medical Ethics Postgraduate Student Committee.
