University Research Committee Strategic Research Fund

Strategic Research Fund awards for 2017/18 will prioritise research and knowledge exchange activities that support future applications to the Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF) and Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund (ISCF), in addition to other institutional strategic initiatives and emerging priorities.

The University of Bristol Strategic Research Fund enables the University Research Committee to pump-prime new and transformative research activities, support emerging research strengths, and to support and empower research leaders in leading large national/international research priorities. This complements other funding available across the University, e.g. through the Vice-Chancellor’s Fellowship schemeIASWUN or University Research Institute funding schemes.

How to apply

Please email your  URC Strategic Research Fund - Application Form (Office document, 37kB) as a single PDF document to by 5pm Friday 18th August 2017. The completed form should not exceed 4 pages, excluding any annexes (e.g. Letters of Support, fEC costing, CVs).

A pdf copy of the fEC costing Summary page for the proposal, which must have been approved by the Account Manager and Head of School, should be appended to the proposal as an annex (the Summary page is the web page which lists Project Lead, Funder, Estates Type, Start Date, End Date, Funder Deadline and Department at the top, and should be printed in portrait format - it is not one of the Excel Project Reports).

Applications will be assessed against the published criteria by the University Research Committee on Thursday 28th September 2017. Outcomes will be announced in the week commencing Monday 2nd October 2017.
