Introduction to BORIS for departmental staff and managers

This half day course is designed for departmental staff and managers who will be using the BORIS on-line recruitment system.

Understand how a structured approach to recruitment and selection will give you greater confidence and an improved likelihood of selecting the right person. This practical one day course will give you a clear insight into how to put together effective selection criteria, successful interview and selection techniques, the answers to common issues and questions as well as focussing on what diversity means and the legal framework that underpins it.

Recruitment and selection training is mandatory for those involved in the interview/ selection process. However, 1:1, small group or tailored departmental training may be more appropriate than the above full day course for one of the following reasons:

• you have already done the University's full recruitment and selection course but need your skills and knowledge updating;
• you have had equivalent training elsewhere and will now be involved in the recruitment process at the University;
• there is a pressing need for training that cannot be met by the above scheduled courses.
